Children Aged 2+. Children in this group will be engaged in practical activities and many aesthetic activities to enjoy the first year of their Montessori life.
Children Aged 3+. Children in this group will be engaged in both indoor and outdoor activities to develop them physically, intellectually and socially. They will be introduced to basic language and mathematical skills.
Children Aged 4+. Children will learn to raise awareness about their surrounding by engaging in nature and geography activities. They will also learn to grasp mathematical concepts and develop both written and spoken language skills that will be essential for formal schooling.
All teachers at Ladybirds Montessori have completed their Diploma in Early Childhood Education in the theory , practice and application of the method and has gained full Montessori training credentials. The children will be under the constant guidance of the Directress and Co-Directress with the assistance of other qualified staff members.

Ladybirds Montessori began its successful journey in the year 2006 and is highly recognised as one of the leading Early Childhood Development Centres in the city of Kandy.
The atmosphere at the Montessori is designed according to Dr. Maria Montessori’s concept of the “Prepared Environment”. The Montessori provides a spacious, safe, nurturing, stimulating environment where children can develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, physically and spiritually.
The Montessori is located in a calm and peaceful environment, within the town limits. It is close to places of religious importance and places of visit which benefits children’s social awareness and improves their religious and cultural backgrounds. It is close to medical offices in case of an emergency.

Our curriculum is based on Dr. Maria Montessori’s use of Montessori Apparatus to ensure the total development of each individual child. The focal point is always the child. Children at our Montessori “learn through play”. They gain experience of the environment and learn new concepts not as separated subject areas, but as integrated play activities. That way, children are able to enjoy their learning.

Eligible children will be sent to both Local and London Examinations. Spoken English/ Written English and Speech and Drama Examinations will be conducted in the following examination bodies:

• Stage Performance
Children have the opportunity of taking part in the annual Voice Over Festival of Performing Arts and be able to win bronze/silver/gold medals for their performances on stage.
• Basic Computer Skills
Certain areas of the Montessori curriculum will be taught along with the use of technology. Children will also be able to develop their computer skills engaging in selected children’s software.
• Art and Craft Center
Opportunity is given for children to develop their creativity. Children engage in free Drawing, Creative Art, Handwork, Play dough and Painting.

We have a very spacious Play area complete with play equipment to help children’s physical development.
There is a play house with cooking equipment for pretend play.
